What is the most durable fiber for an area rug, wool, or synthetic?
For good looks that last, wool is best and naturally the most durable fiber, it wears the longest and cleans up well. A wool rug must be professionally dry cleaned or use a cleaner appropriate for wool if you are allergic to wool or simply prefer a synthetic rug. Quality is key. There are many synthetics available that are excellent.
How do I know what style is best for my room?

Do I need a pad with my rug?
It is always recommended to have a pad with every rug. There are different pads for different rugs. A pad keeps a rug from slipping and sliding, but also helps the wearablility of a rug and gives the rug a little cushion on the feet.

There are many types of area rugs, from hand-knotted, hand tufted, machine made, hooked braided etc.. This can be overwhelming. For each style of rugs there are variations in quality. Price is usually indicative of a high end hand knotted rug, but don’t be overwhelmed, quality, pattern and color are the most important no matter the type of rug.
